Moulay Hafid Elalamy
El Alamy has been Morocco’s current Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment and Digital Economy since 2013. Born in 1960 in Marrakech, he holds a degree in ‘Information System’ from the ‘Sherbooke University’. El Alamy started his professional career in Canada, as a senior advisor for the Québec Ministry of Finance, before holding the position of Director of Information Systems in a Canadian insurance company.
Once back in Morocco in 1989, Elalamy joined the royal group ONA, and took the position of Secretary General, and General Director of its insurance subsidiary company. In 1995, he created his own service company Saham, active in finance, insurance, assistance, and loans all over Africa.
He was the head of the Confédération Générale des Entreprises du Maroc (CGEM) between 2006 and 2009. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Lalla Salma Association against Cancer, the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, the Fédération Marocaine des Sociétés d'assurance et de réassurance, and of the OCP.
Elalamy is a member of the Rassemblement National des Indépendants (RNI) political party.
