MFM Radio
MFM Radio was created in 2006 and has since then imposed itself in the national landscape through a total of six general content radios (CASA FM, MFM SAISS, MFM ATLAS, MFM ORIENTAL, MFM SOUSS et MFM SAHARA) covering local news and entertainment.
The MFM Radios Network’s launch was allowed after obtaining a licence in 2006, when a first wave of licenses given out by the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (La Haute Autorité de la Communication Audiovisuelle [HACA]) to ‘liberalise’ the radio sector.
Having implemented the brand across six regions in the country, the radio’s programming has been adapted in consequence, by combining a common, national program alongside region-specific programs. The regions where MFM Radio operates through each regional broadcast:
CASA FM: Greater Casablanca Basin and the Phosphates Plateau;
MFM SAISS: Region of Fès-Meknès and Pre-rif and Centre Region;
MFM ATLAS: Marrakech, High Atlas, and Abdas;
MFM ORIENTAL: the Oriental region [l’Oriental] and the Rif region;
MFM SOUSS: the Souss-Massa region and its prolongations and Les portes du Désert;
MFM SAHARA: Saharan Provinces.
The radios are owned by the ‘Société MFM RADIO TV’, under the direction of Kamal Lahlou. All shareholders are members of the Lahlou family.
In a profile in his own weekly magazine, Mr. Lahlou has described the editorial line of MFM Radio as follows: […] a radio that spreads what is sacred in this country […]: ‘Islam, the homeland and the king. The love and defence of our country. This is our editorial line’.
