L’Economiste
Founded in 1991, L’Economiste is the flagship outlet of the media group Ecomedias. It is a French-language daily, with individual sales averaging 12 999 copies, while overall circulation hovers at 16 162 copies.
Its founders, and historic Director of Publication and Editor-in-Chief, are the Dilami couple, both PhD holders in the fields of Public Law - for M. Dilami - and in Applied Economics - for Mrs. Dilami.
The paper’s editorial positioning was, from the beginning a reflection of its founders’ background, and has remained over the past two decades dedicated to catering to the needs and interests of the economic elite and technocrats in terms of news content. As such, not being a general-news outlet, it stood out in the Moroccan newsprint landscape.
It is also clear that this outlet’s positioning has been along the lines of defending the liberal economic policies of the country and justifying its chosen path for economic development.
